Question: What about clubs for when my 7-12-year-old kid needs to go to the next level?
Answer: It's hard to go past the brand "US Kids" clubs, as they have both half and full sets for kids aged from 5-16 years which are specifically made for a child's height. The alternative though, is to have a set custom-made by a club-maker, and that's going to cost serious dollars and still perhaps not be as good as a set of the readily available US Kids clubs. Being in Australia, the cost of freight with importing clubs from the US became a factor, so I elected to make Karl's current set since age 7 with various makes and shafts. The current shafts in his Taylormade heads cost me $10 each and are a "lite Ladies" flex by Maltby. There are other suitable shafts available, but the price of those for such a good shaft was attractive to me. After having been cut-down, they suited Karl at age 8. When he needs longer shafts I could simply buy the next flex level from the same or other shaft-maker and have them fitted into the same heads by a club-maker, who would then balance the clubs to ensure their swing-weight is correct. As I say, unless you're really into your golf gear it's probably easier to get a set of US Kids clubs.
